The US Open is the fourth and final tennis Grand Slam of the year, and in 2026 the main draw runs from Sunday, August 30 through the finals on Sunday, September 13 at Flushing Meadows in New York. Watch the time remaining on our live US Open countdown.
When is the US Open 2026?
The 2026 tournament is preceded by Fan Week from August 23 to 29 — featuring qualifying, exhibitions and the mixed doubles championship — before the singles main draw begins on August 30. The women's final is scheduled for September 12 and the men's final for September 13, closing out the Grand Slam season.
Where is it played?
The US Open is held on hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, Queens. Its showpiece, Arthur Ashe Stadium, is the largest tennis arena in the world, seating nearly 24,000 fans under a retractable roof, and is famous for its loud, late-night atmosphere.
Why the US Open stands apart
- First held in 1881, it is one of the oldest championships in tennis.
- It was the first Grand Slam to pay equal prize money to men and women, back in 1973.
- Its primetime night sessions and big-city energy give it a spectacle the other majors can't match.
