The Sinulog Festival 2027 — Cebu City's grand celebration of the Santo Niño and one of the largest festivals in the Philippines — falls on Sunday, January 17, 2027. Watch the time remaining on our live Sinulog countdown.
When is Sinulog 2027?
Sinulog is held on the third Sunday of January each year, which in 2027 is January 17. Festivities and novena masses build over the preceding days, but the grand parade — a roaring, all-day street procession of costumed dancers — is the Sunday climax.
Why is it called Sinulog?
The festival honours the Santo Niño, the image of the Child Jesus that Ferdinand Magellan gave to the wife of Rajah Humabon in 1521, treasured ever since as a symbol of the Philippines' Christian faith. The name comes from the "sinulog" dance, whose two-steps-forward, one-step-back motion echoes the current of a river — and whether you join in or simply watch, the crowds chant "Pit Senyor!", a plea for the Santo Niño's blessing.
How Sinulog is celebrated

- The Sinulog dance, performed to the relentless beat of drums.
- A fluvial procession and novena masses grounding the fiesta in devotion.
- Street parties, food and fireworks across Cebu City.
